Not a thing wrong with a 16lb dog! My Shih Tzu was 13lbs and he was the smallest dog in town (that we knew of ). We always thought of him as small....until I got Gracie! I think the larger Yorkies can be great family dogs. They have so much energy and are so smart. I do despise the people who try to pawn off larger Yorkie puppies as tinies though.
