It's getting easier-- Since the standard changed all over Europe a few years ago the US judges have been encouraged by the AKC to use their own discretion as to how to deal with docked vs undocked tails. Most complied by simply ignoring the undocked dog, awarding them very rarely. This appears to be changing fast and I understand YTCA is reconsidering the standard because US breeders are hurt by being excluded from international competition with their docked dogs. It's been interesting. I've been building my line mainly on imports, hence there have been lots of undocked dogs in my kennel and I've taken a liking to the long tail. Boy, didn't I take some bashings on this board over that. |
