Bebe retained FOUR baby teeth, all the canines, and got food stuck between like you said. My vet said the best thing to do is remove that food daily until you're ready to remove them. My vet told me I could wait until she needed a cleaning, as long as a removed that stuck food every day and kept them brushed (which is dumb because if you keep your dog's teeth brushed you won't need them cleaned lol).

Well a couple months ago I bought her a large chewy bone, I think it was by nylabone. And within a couple days of chewing on it, she lost three of her four retained teeth! The last one is in there good, there seems to be a tiny adult tooth next to it and the baby one looks to be the main tooth there. So I'm leaving it alone. But I can't believe at almost two years old she lost her retained baby teeth lol!

Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention that my little 3lb poodle just had 13 teeth removed in febuary (I rescued her, her teeth are not my fault). She has four left lol, but she was eating canned food the next day.
