I agree with that. When Gracie was a puppy she was such a poor eater that I could not give her treats for training because I had to have her hungry at meal time so she would eat. Lots of praise and encouragement worked just as well. Now that she is grown and eating well she looks forward to her treat after grooming but mostly she does things because she is a ham.
