The NuWave is what I'm looking at and I think it uses infrared, convection and conduction heating to cook. They say they don't use halogen bulbs so I guess infrared is its primary source of heating - but not sure. That is good to know about your troubles with them - I thought I had heard somewhere that about a 1/3 of them hardly last anytime. Makes me pause in my thinking about wanting one!
