It is sad to hear of yet another victim of fraud. I too received a call from Chase and when I checked my checking account history I found a bunch of pending transactions, all from Internet sources. One was from a dating service, I told them my dh would not be happy about that one.
It seems that when I had used my debit card at a restaurant, someone decided I should fund their Internet spree. The fraud department told me that with technology today, they can walk past you with a device and it will pick up your card info. I bought a metal card holder that cannot be penetrated.
Since it was caught in time, all the charges were denied and only my peace of mind is gone.
