Your guy needs to see the vet tomorrow. Waiting even a few days with a possible UTI is not good for him and he could be very uncomfortable. So many things can cause urine issues. i would not be too concerned yet, esp. since no testing was done to help choose the right antibiotic before. This time a urinalysis really does need to be done and a culture. If that is not showing anything, your vet will probably do bloodwork which needs to be done before neuter anyway.
Your vet can easily do a cystocentesis. That is a needle right into the bladder through the abdomen. I promise..it sounds much worse than it is. It is very low risk, done allllll the time (actually it is the best way to get a sample if infection is suspected), and the animals really don't seem to care. I have watched many a cysto and it is no big thing for the pups..even my own dogs...
Some vets do it ultrasound guided and others don't. Ultrasound does make it safer, but both ways are acceptable.
