It was almost two years between the time we lost Ashley until we brought Katie home on Mother's Day, and I understand how great your loss is. Ashley was almost seventeen, and she had dementia the last year of her life. She was very responsive with us, but she was extremely needy and needed 24 hour care each day. Losing her was a great loss for us, but I knew from losing her sisters before her, that each baby is totally irreplaceable. We love each one of our babies differently, but it is easy for our hearts to love another baby again. After I lost our first Yorkie, Jolie, and got Ashley, I didn't think it would be possible for me to love another little one like I loved Jolie. Yet Ashley completely stole my heart, then so did Kiwi and Gracie. Now I have Katie, and I can't believe how much I love this little girl and how happy she has made me. It doesn't change how I feel about Ashley or her sisters, and I love and miss them just as much as ever. Yet I was so unhappy without a little one to love, and now with Katie, she reinforces the beautiful and happy memories that I have of Ashley, Kiwi, Gracie and Jolie even more. It is because you love your little boy so much that you want to share your heart with another little one. If you think you can handle it, I think your heart will heal much faster if you have another baby to love. I can't wait for the day until you bring another little one into your heart and home.
(Try the photos again.)
