I realized my last post was cryptic. Uric Acid stones are likely as a result of a genetic condition, separate from a liver shunt. The thread I posted talks about this, and btw Dalmations are not the only dogs that get this, so do Yorkies, and Black russian Terriers. there is a simple test as elaborated on that link I posted to test for the Status of your pup.
