Bile Acid test results that are off the charts are more like 300-400, pre and post.

Your dog is 12 years old? I think I'd wait and sorry, but find a new vet for a second opinion, and redo the BAT in a month or so. If he had a shunt (the bloodwork does not validate that accessment) he would have had symptoms before now, especially if it was one that required surgery.

I would wait and retest, seriously. Low protein diet for now is okay and the liver med won't hurt him. Are the stones his only symptom?

My dog had recurring UTIs and had LS surgery... I've had her on Coconut oil for a year now (since her surgery) and the stones and UTIs have never come back. She is on L/D and meds, as her surgery was unsuccessful.
No Charlie is only 5 and he has has problems with pancreatitis for the last yr or so. His vet feels that the pancreatitis could be a secondary effect of a possible shunt. the vet gave me an internal specialist to see as they do not do the surgery there they too said that a specialist needed to be the ones to do this if I go through with it. Charlie has not had UTIs to my knowledge but has always had stomach issues recently, he just all the sudden could not urinate and it went down hill thats how they found the stones it all happened in a matter of 24 hours.

Now the stones has been there for some time apparently but one got stuck in the urethra which is what caused the blockage. His vets really are very good they saved his life almost a year ago when the pancreatitis was discovered and they have never tried to make me do anything I wasnt comfortable with. I guess I need to make the appt with the specialist and start there once again, that will at least be less expensive at this point.

And do I understand that your baby had shunt surgery but it didnt work? what about it didnt work?? it is supposed to make it so that the toxins are once again filtered through the liver correct?

Charlie is not eating the l/d so im not sure what else to try, Im going to have to look up a low protein diet
