My brother and I agreed to take our dad out for a nice steak dinner. We've never taken him out to dinner before and we are in our 30s, sad huh? Well my dad now is trying to get us to let him pay. We are totally fine with picking up the tab. My bro's gf is going and my dad's gf is also going. We are fine with paying for them. What to do??? Should I talk to the restaurant and make arrangements ahead of time (it's tonight!) or should I threaten that if he pays I won't go? Or talk to the server or what? I do NOT want him to pay. He says it was just the thought that was good enough and that we don't have to pay bc he says it's going to be too expensive and we don't have money, which is no longer true.
