Yes... Max was 4.6# at 15 months... At 2 1/2 he is over 6#. I don't think the 7# limit for breed standard is reasonable. Max came from a show home... they pay attention to nutrition, but keep the dogs very thin... not that different from a wrestler or boxer that keeps their weight down to qualify for a lower weight class. Once these babies are fed freely, I believe most show dogs would exceed show weight within a year. I'm not promoting fat Yorkies... but Max was painfully thin with almost no muscle mass when I got him. He's a healthy, strong boy now, and a much more appropriate weight for his bone structure.
