I'm new here also. From my research and understanding, I think the very term "teacup" is a signal that the yorkies were irresponsibly bred. I don't believe that any reputable breeder strives for undersized yorkie puppies.

Your best bet, I believe, is to intern with or mentor with a reputable breeder. Usually, these are the people that actually show dogs (but not necessarily.) They are dedicated to preserving the breed with healthy, quality dogs. You should research local dog shows in your state and attend. Maybe you can find someone who'll let you help out. (That's exactly how my breeder - of show champions - started out 25 yrs ago!)

From everything I've read, breeding dogs does not make you a lot of money. It takes more than putting 2 AKC registered dogs together. You have to understand each dog's history - so you don't end up with an unhealthy lot. It's a whole lot of work to do it right. And it's my view that a breeder should strive to do it right.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Have a great evening and good luck to you.
