I have actually called his specialist today to ask about the possibility of him getting a steroid shot. I soooo hate to do this bc he is just now getting relief from the horrible and extensive yeast that was all over his skin from scratching so profusely while we have tried to start this whole process.
I know it might sound trivial, but this is all not cheap in the least and first and foremost I know that he has to be miserable with all of the constant scratching. He has been so much happier ...almost like a different dog ..the past couple of weeks when he finally had some relief from the nonstop itching he has suffered with...
I know their first and most important task was to get the hook which posed such a threat to him... I just also thought that with him being in ICU and being treated w dermatology specialists at same exact clinic.. that he would have gotten his proper food bc it was definitely in his records and I definitely told them. Regardless, he is definitely having a huge flare up.
They saved him and I am extremely grateful!! I don't mean to not sound grateful..It is just all a little frustrating to now have triggered this whole thing back into motion... we might have to start all over bc now it is impossible to know if his reaction is bc the medicine we just weaned him off of was controlling his allergy or if he really does have a food allergy andthe new food is stopping the allergic reactions he's been having... So it's just a little frustrating this far into the food trial!! |
