Those pups are victims of those awful breeders and owners, they should be recognized as such and not blamed for being so. I find it ironic that the end of your post is "I needed to be heard."
So, you have a right to be heard but I don't have a right to voice my opinion? Certainly not in a fashion that doesn't "sit well with" you, huh?
I re-read what I wrote. Perhaps the "sound" you are picking up on is one of offense at being told (implied or direct) what I can & cannot do by someone who has no such authority. I find such behaviour both offensive & oppressive...hence the 'step off' tone you may have picked up on.
I also don't get how my post is "a slap in the face" to anyone other than an irresponsible owner. And those I would like to slap, and the face is as good of a place to start as any.
I admitted, I do have an issue with the Big Brother attitude of those that think they can tell you what to do...ie: don't get a puppy from a breeder because there are so many dogs in shelters & rescues. Because, as I stated previously I don't believe those in the wrong in society should set the rules for the rest of us. I have never rehomed, given up, thrown away (whatever terminology you chose) a dog...ever! I have also never contributed a single dog to the pet population...ever! My dogs are mine from the day I bring them home until they die. So, as I responsible pet owner, I believe it's my right to CHOOSE what I want for myself. Who are you to infringe on my rights & limit who I choose to bring into my family?
Concrete Gurl nailed it when she said it's like telling people they can't have a baby because there are kids in fostercare. Do you go around pointing at pregnant women's bellies yelling, "because of YOU a child is homeless!!!" To me, that kind of attitude alienates people to your cause...it doesn't get them on board as it fails to recognizes the true root of the problem.
The problem is not people like me, who after due diligence researching & meeting with breeders, chose to buy a puppy from them. IMO, the problem lies with the greeders that wrecklessly churn out puppies for profit, the idiots that buy their dogs at pet stores (outside walmart, at flea markets & all the other equally ridiculous places we've heard about), and the irresponsible owners who fail to keep their commitment of a life time of quality care to their dogs.
Obviously, the dogs are the innocent ones in the whole fiasco, as they have no voice & no choice in what happens to them.
