I try to personalize decisions like this, for instance if I owned & operated a business, I would want those who patronized it to either respect my rules of running my business or find another. Like the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated.
really? do hotels or motels treat you as you would like to be treated? maybe...if your paying 750-1000 per night. at that rate your paying about 950 too much.
As a former MOTEL owner, i can tell give you some insight. If your yorkie pees on the floor, its going to get steam cleaned(maybe). im going to charge you, or collect insurance. Im going to file a claim, pocket the money, but the carpet is going to remain as is. why? because as the owner, i dont have respect for you, or care. Its business. Let me say this....ive collected way too much money for college kids and drunks than for animals. If i had only 50lb dogs in my rooms, id be better off, and i doing good in retirement. kids and their parents cost more than a bit of pee...and to be honest, most folks who sneaked their pets into a room kept their pets in check. Yes...we know(but it matters little). Hotel owners love college kids, drunks, and new parents. small pets just fill in the blanks. bottom line...we make money either way.

They dont respect you, why would you respect them?
