Suzi was 3 lbs at 9 weeks old when I first brought her home to live with us, she was very small, she could fit into our hands. She maintained a weight of 7Lbs for a while, but, I thought she felt too thin, even thugh the standard weight is 7 pounds and under I was concerned she felt like she was too skin and bones, I changed her diet , she wsa eating Wellness which is a good food, but was not eating as well as she should, I put her on evo for a while until they changed company's then I tried her on taste of the wild, the salmon flavor both made my dogs have a allergic reation, so I tried the fowl flavor and they love it. The latest recall on dimond foods DID NOT include California, and as far as any dog getting ill from the food no reports were indicatedm they did it as a precaution, anyway, Suzi weight jumped to 10 pounds, and I was very surprised. She and my shih tzu are within weighing oz of each other, anther surprise, I thought Miely was heavier then Suzi. 10 pounds is still small, especiall after they are shaved down. I think any dog under 15-20 pounds is small. Most importantly is that they are healthy and thriving.
