If she gave you AKC papers, and you have a contract with an AKC litter number on it...that is the number given to the litter this pup is in....and you tried to register the baby using AKC papers that are NOT designated to that puppy, the "breeder" has shot herself in the foot. You need to contact the breeder and tell her what exactly has happened...DO NOT RETURN THE PAPERS SHE GAVE YOU TO REGISTER THE BABY UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED, AND THEN KEEP A COPY FOR ANY FUTURE COLABORATION WITH THE AKC...those along with the information on the contract, is proof she deliberately tried to deceive you almost immediately. You may very well get the cost of that puppy refunded to you. If she does not realize the seriousness of her deception, especially where it involves the AKC, you need to remind her you will be in contact with the AKC in order to get THEIR guidance and direction from their legal and record keeping department, on what your next course of action should be. I am hopeful you continue to pursue this legally and not go off half cocked and cancel your payment for the puppy...keep it legal, you are in the right here, and you will win any action you take. You will do a lot more corrective damage to this woman staying within the realm of legal pursuit.
