I feed my overweight dogs vet type Science Diet R/D (Reducing Diet). Even the kids that are under 10 pounds only get 1/4 cup two times a day. It is not a meat filled diet but like it says, a REDUCING diet. They get by because the ingredients are filling. I would rather feed them Origen and Grandma Lucy's and Stella and Chewy's like the normal weight guys get but having a long haired Chihuahua that SHOULD BE 5 pounds and is over 7 isn't healthy. I get them those little round treats..."something bear"...forgot name, from PetCo...that have just 3 calories per piece.
