Couldn't believe it because I had noticed that my 16 yr. old, Rosie, was having tremors after I applied it. They got quite severe but appear to be diminishing in severity. She has always reacted badly to flea meds but I never paid close enough attention. My little Cocoa, may she rest in peace, always took up my time and attention. I have now spent time on the net researching. What I find is scary. Basically we are putting poison into/onto our dogs when we apply flea prevention, etc. One has to weigh the risks. There are natural flea preventives out there but it takes diligence to keep up with the regiment. There are no heartworm natural preventatives so you have to read and decide. Do not just take what your vet says at face value. Have read horrible stories about Proheart6 which is a 6 month shot preventative. It was pulled off the market in 2004, bought by another company and chose to remarket it with stipulations for the vets. Not all vets follow through. How many of us would just give our pet the shot if our vet recommended it even if we had to sign a waiver? I recently bought Triflexis to give to my doggies. Went home and did research and returned the product. I am now trying Comfortis as a flea preventative and Interceptor as a heart preventative. Rosie will be getting a natural flea preventative. May switch all my dogs to it if it works out. I decided to try these two because of the reviews I read. Lesser of the other evils, if you want. We put so many poisons into our dogs....vaccinations, flea and heartworm/worms preventatives, vitamins cooked out of the kibble and replaced with additives. Ugh! My point is: Do your research. You may come up with an entirely different opinion then mine. I would like to hear them. I'm open to anything that would be safer for my dogs. ~Joanne~ |
I have always used Advantage for flea prevention and have never had issues. I have not had to use flea preventatives in the past couple of years, but if I did, it would not be Comfortis (spinosad). I prefer to stick with tried and true products...new ones concern me.
