Yes, I have done this also. I did learn that you can bid your max and ebay will bid for you in increment but only after I set my alarm to get up way early to bid on something. Now I know, I can bid my max and can stay in bed. I won two items so far. I bid my max at 8.01 and won the item for only 4.35. And I made sure to pay right away to build up good feedback.
