Has nothing to do with watching them "real close"....has EVERYTHING to do with phychological and emotional maturity and development of the puppy....the momma is busy teaching her offspring the fine art of being a respectful canine, so they dont go getting themselves killed by another dog because they had no concept of pack etiquette, among MANY other things....people DUMP puppies before they are ready to be taken from thier mothers because that way they dont have to foot the bills for vaccinations, etc...it is all about money and profit margin....NOT WHAT REPUTABLE BREEDERS DO. Please read the neurological development and stages of development by Dr.Carmelo Battaglia....I would strongly advise active participation in the courses offered by this expert...Breeding Better Dogs. If you are sincere in developing a reputable program, you will have to understand WHY we do the things we do....like keeping puppies until they are AT LEAST 12 weeks and older......NOTHING TO DO WITH "GOOD JUDGEMENT" OR "WATCHING THEM CLOSELY".
