I would start out just in the room during the procedure, perhaps holding the animal, so I can be familiar with the sad but inevitable fate of some of those animals. I wish I could foster them all, so none of them have to be put down!
I understand if the animal is in pain, or it's their time, or they have aggression issues that can't be fixed, but it's really sad when an animal is put down simply because they're being overlooked. I was told today that black dogs are the most common to be put down because they're "a dime a dozen". Not my words!!
Anyway, thank you everyone, I'm still reeeally excited to help out the animals but I'm not going to do the euthanasia certification until I know I absolutely know I can handle it. It's heartbreaking  |
Someone has to do it, but you need to toughen up to handle it emotionally. I'm still very happy you are finding a slot that you like in life. I wish you the very best.
