I will say first and foremost, I do not know this woman, or her breeding program....I just wanted to explane some of the things she is doing....There are breeders that do not believe in putting their dogs in crates.....this is "cruel and restrictive" to them, so they let all their dogs run free at all times, all over the house and property. You will often see, "Raised in our home, under foot, with our loving family....not in a kennel!" This is USUALLY someone with few dogs...so that when a female comes in heat, she is still running with everyone, loose, both males and females, and she will be bred to any one or all of the males she is running with. When the babies are born, they will DNA all the babies and see who belongs to who....not something I agree with...have been told that way, each male will have the opportunity to have a puppy from that female, and you can see in just ONE litter, what crossing any one of those males with that female, produces....guess, in a strange way, that could make sense to some people....??! Next, she says she "adopted" Leah due to that dogs kennel closing down....she uses "adopted" rather than "bought" or even "gifted"...it isnt like she got that breeder from a rescue or the pound...she acquired the dog from a downsizing/forced to close kennel, and incorporated her into HER kennel/breeding program....she is going to breed her a couple of times and retire her....nothing unethical about this. When breeders retire their breeding dogs, they rehome them, adopt them out...whatever term they want to use...it doesnt sound as cold as "sell"....retired breeders usually go for a veery reduced price, some are even given away....you treat these retiring breeders with the utmost love and care and respect....you dont just kick them to the curb. NO, you can not keep all the retired breeding stock...put a pencil to it and see how that would very quickly end YOU up on TV as a "Hoarder"!!! You breed these dogs for maybe 4 years, then they retire...you have kept a baby that is an excellent example of the retiring dogs line and pedigree...so you can carry on that line....now, if you have 5 females, and they retire and you keep them all, after breeding for 15 years...well, you can see where THAT is going! You are completely inundated with dogs!!!! You CANT run your business like that!!! I did not go to her site...I know nothing about her pricing structure....please remember, breeding dogs responsibly costs a fortune! People can NOT look down on breeders that charge what some people consider outrageous prices for their babies, because you have no idea of all the expense involved! Responsible breeders seldom break even, let alone make "a fortune" by charging outrageous prices....do her babies go to their new homes at 12-16 weeks? Are tails doced, dew claws removed, ears done like they do Schnauzers ears, vaccines given, worming program started, heartworm med started....all that costs a lot of money....which is EXACTLY why some "breeders" dump their babies off at 6-8 weeks so they dont have all the vaccines, worming, etc started. I am NOT defending this woman...she MAY have a horrible program and be corrupt as she can possibly be....just saying dont be real quick to judge her as unfit breeder just because of the two things I picked out from your observations, to explane.....people that do not breed, have no knowledge of how some things are done, and why they are done that way....
