I just saw your post, and wanted to tell you, when I switched my girls to Nature's Variety Lamb and Rice, they started scratching, gaining weight, and one of them began licking and chewing her front paws. There is a lot of grain in it; brown rice, barley, and oatmeal, are the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th ingredients. Too much grain seems to bother my girls.
Changed them over to Artemis Small Breed formula and the problems cleared up. Chicken, Turkey, Chicken Meal, and Lamb Meal are the first 4 ingredients.
I still feed Nature's Variety frozen medallions and canned, because both are just meat and veggies, no grains.
