Default Knox really likes the Fromm!

I think Knox may have taken ill from his last batch of TOTW. I spent $184 at the vet last week and thought I was going to lose him to diarrhea and vomitting. Today I found out about the TOTW recall. I have sworn by it (Taste of the Wild High Prarie made by Diamond) since he was 12 weeks old. He has always been the picture of health - high energy, beautiful coat.

Switching presents a major concern. Knox is a finicky eater. He went two days without eating a bite when I tried to switch him to Orijen. TOTW Bison is one of the few foods he will actually eat. But, after seeing the recall this afternoon and after going through hell last week, from vomit in the bed to diarrhea all over the house, I decided to switch him, and, this evening, I drove to a gourmet dog food store about a half hour from my home, looking for an alternative to TOTW. I settled on Fromm chicken a la veg.

To my complete surprise, he gobbled it up excitedly. He has never had that reaction to non-human food. Fingers crossed he continues to enjoy it. I actually think he ate one small portion of Orijen and wouldn't ever touch it again, if I remember correctly. Not out of the woods yet, still concerned about his subtle palate.

I hate to switch Knox cold turkey, but, like I said, I don't trust my bag of TOTW, and it's all I have. It falls within the affected use by dates, but the production code is baffling. It only has seven total digits, so I have no idea if it's tainted. Better safe than sorry.

I will let you know how Knox takes to the Fromm in the days to come. It's only about two dollars per bag higher than TOTW, which I have been buying at Tractor Supply Co. I paid $15 for a 5 lbs bag of Fromm here in Chattanooga at a place called Hot Dawg.
