With Tatiana, I approach her skin and coat in two ways -- her diet and what I physically do with her skin and coat. I think healthy skin and coat starts from the inside out (just like humans). With coconut oil, I have Tatiana EAT it (I add it to her food). I also add fish oil, too.

With physically maintaining Tatiana, I do not put a lot of products on her. I find that it irritates her, and creates a build-up on her coat. This includes detangling products.

What works with Tatiana is using a mild, fragrance-free conditioner, and plenty of rinsing. I have yet to find a shampoo that won't irritate her (and I've tried mild ones). I bath her once of week. I brush her out every day.

Her skin and coat are in good shape.

Again, this may not work for your morkie. I'm just sharing what works for Tatiana.
I agree that healthy coat starts from within. Mocha had the same problem with dry skin and coat at around 8 months. I tried oatmeal shampoo but that didn't work. I finally went back to the PetSilk products he's used to and worked well before. Instead, I changed his diet. He eats Orijen dry food. I found out that Orijen has a all fish formula so I started mixing his normal Orijen food with the All Fish formula. In a couple of weeks his coat went back to normal, no more dry, flaky skin either. You can also take fish oil as suggested above.
