I wouldn't bother speaking to the first vet. I would send a letter explaining that you weren't satisfied with his care and sought another opinion. Enclose a copy of the report showing it was cancer. Tell him how lucky ALL of you are that you pursued it. If he works for a practice, and is not a sole practitioner, I would send the letter to the main partners so they know. I'm sure the practice would like to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Hopefully he will be fine. We've all seen dogs getting around just fine on 3 legs, I'm sure he will adjust to losing a toe without too much trouble. He will be happy when it doesn't hurt anymore. Good luck to you both. |
