Yorkies cost more to breed than other dogs. Labs, can have 12 puppies each litter, where Yorkies usually have at the most 4, and average is probably less than that. So right away the cost per dog goes up. Also, Yorkies are more likely to need a Cesarean than many other breeds, again, this is a big expense. Because Yorkies are so popular many byb breeders have started breeding, but I can assure you they don't do health testing and don't even know what the health risks are to the breed. The good news is that good breeders don’t charge as much as a Yorkie is worth! |
