Just seeing this, Betty. So glad it was not Shingles. Been there, done that = not FUN! I suspected it was not Shingles, as they do not go completely around one's body; only on one side. Hubby and I had them together about 10 years ago. Shingles are not contagious, but can be brought on by being around someone with active chicken pox, or even prolonged stress. Mine was a mild case on hip & thigh; but he suffered the blistering. They do start out with severe itching, progressing to pain, and the affected nerves can be painful for up to several years. For instance, I could tell when the weather was going to change, because that area became very sensitive again. Hoping you find out what the allergy is, so this does not repeat!
