We do a 13 hour trip every year. Shelby has made the trip twice and will be going for her third time this summer. We also travel with an older lab. They travel VERY well. We put a large dog bed on the floor in the back. The lab stays there and Shelby goes between that and my lap. We stop when they "ask" which is 3 - 4 times for the 13 hours. They have breakfast in the morning before we leave and Shelby gets a small amount of food around "lunch" then they both get dinner at the usual time. We've never had any problems
