We carried her to the vet on Thursday and they said her knee cap is popping out of joint and she'll have to have surgery before arthritus sets in the joint. She's learned how to stretch her leg out and get it to pop back in. She doesn't act like she's in pain at all. Has anyone out there heard of this before and how bad is the surgery going to be and does anyone know about the cost of this surgery. |
Hi and Welcome to YT! Sorry about your pup... these are normally graded by the vet to be Stage 1 through 4, with 4 being the worst (the knee does not pop back in on it's own and may be painful). Surgery is usually done only on Stage 4, as many dogs can manage without pain for their entire lives in the lower stages. Overextending while running and jumping on and off beds and furniture can make it worse. Surgeries can run from $450.00 to $3000.00 depending on the vet and where you live (some areas are more expensive).
