You did what was best for your Macie, you were there, you went through it and you should not second guess anything you did. Underdeveloped organs can not be "fixed." Many years ago my Black Lab, constant companion to my 12 year old son, played fetch, guard dog (even chasing the butterflies away from my son as he played) sat and wouldn't move till commanded to do so, went everywhere with us and just completed our family....suddenly collapsed and died. No signs, no symptoms, beforehand. Rushed to the ER Vet, autopsy for peace of mind performed. Underdeveloped kidneys and heart....even had we known we would not have been able to save our beloved HUGO.

I know your pain, I really do, take the time you need, be at peace with your ultimate gift to Macie and remember her for the happiness her little life gave to you, if only for a short while...
