I don't feel its cruel, I just asked my dogs "who wants to go into their ROOM and take a picture, and all three (even Bell who is never in the cage) climbed in.. SO in my opinion I'm not sure if I think nice big cages are cruel!??! If they are in there for just a few hours a day, it becomes home and not a punishment..

I do the same thing with my puppy, because when I am at school and nobody is home to take her out, she goes in her 'bedroom' (cage).
