This is something you should talk over with your vet, not a clerk in the store. Dogs don't gain weight for a variety of reasons. First, you want to make sure that your dog needs to gain weight, and secondly, you want to make sure that your dog doesn't have an illness that prevents her from gaining weight. In fact, with some illnesses, like liver shunt, increasing the protein content of the food could prove detrimental. I do agree, food changes should be made very slowly.
