Now I'm more concerned. At the end of March I noticed that around the eyes is light pinkish red and mild hair loss. Yesterday I looked it up because before I was thinking it was allergy related. Especially since the vet told me about allergies. He said nothing about her eyes. I was reading about this mange thing. If a puppy has mange how long can they have it before hair loss starts? She has never had mites but I did give her medication that was given to me from the place I got her from when I complained about an odor coming from her ears. The medication cures bacteria/yeast/mites. He plucked the hairs from inside of her ears and looked at them. I saw nothing more than brown wax. I looked at photos of what mites look like inside dog's ear, so I'm certain she did not have mites. Either way, she was put on medication and took it for a week. That was two weeks after I got her. Even the first vet I was taking her to said she was healthy. If she had mange wouldn't it show up by now? She doesn't have bald spots on her. She does scratch but the 2nd vet said it was allergy related. He even looked at her skin and said it was healthy. I've actually parted her coat and thoroughly checked her skin. It looks normal to me. No redness, no scabbing, no bruising... nothing. What made me concern is the stories I read elsewhere on the internet and here about Demodectic Mange from other people regarding their pets. She's 19 weeks as of Thursday. She was already over 4 months when I notice the pink around her eyes. You don't notice it just looking at her, but if you are close or in better light, it's clear to see. It's close to the eyelids.. not that wide. There is no swelling though. She's been rubbing at her eyes now for about a week. Maybe about once or twice in a day. I've been giving her Benadryl since the vet told me to, but I don't everyday because it seems to make tired. I have a photo on my camera I'm going to upload today to show you. When I mentioned my concern to my hubby, he said I'm over reacting. He already thinks I'm too protective and cautious with her, and said she will be fine. I couldn't just throw off my concern, so I'm going to make another appointment with the vet but I wanted to know if anyone here has a pet that experienced this pinkish red around the eyes from allergies.
