That's tough, but I don't care how well people described her, they could always have someone call and describe a boy etc, until they narrowed down what it actually was. I think the dog will show you that it knows AND loves the person. If it doesn't, I would not release the dog. I found a yorkie once and there was no doubt in my mind when the owner came, crying her head off she could hardly talk, and the little pup was so excited, she ran to her mommy.
