From my experience with leave in conditioners on my Yorkies they tend to get gritty or stiff after a few days. I just use reg. conditioner and just dont rinse it out thoroughly. It leaves the hair soft and doesn't matt.

If you want to prevent matting you really need to groom every few days. Especially the cotton coats, they do matt and tangle way more than the smooth coat Yorkies. But until she looses her puppy coat matting is just going to be a part of life. Ruby is almost three and she doesn't matt or tangle near as much as she did when she was younger. I brush her every other week and a full bath and grooming once a month.

Here is the link to my site on how to groom a Yorkie, maybe it will be helpful:

She did have a small rash in her inner thigh, too but it went away quick. I did show the vet. He told me it was allergy related. I visit a site call wag.com where I looked at a leave-in conditioner "8in1 Perfect Coat Natural Oatmeal/Almond Leave in Conditioner - 12 oz" from Perfect Coat. I didn't know if I should get it or not. Her first shampoo was from Perfect Coat but I went used it twice and switched to Hartz Soothing Botanicals shampoo with oatmeal and aloe. She's always pretty much soft. It just gets matted a little after she's been biting and licking at an itchy spot. I took her to a groomer once and had a bad experience with the grooming so I was hesitant in taking her again. Though I intend to take her back soon since the hair inside her ears has grown back. Thanks for sharing your link!
