Their coat can change after the first haircut and also if you use a good conditioner.
I thought Optimus had the puffy fur type. After they cut it all off (like people -- he had baby hair!) it grew back in silky style but still rough. Put a good conditioner on it and voila! Smooth and lays nicely.
