All right.. gonna play devils advocate here.. I have allergies and feel so fortunate to still be able to have yorkies but not everyone is so lucky. It really depends on what you are actually allergic too and yorkies still have dander. It is miserable to have to suffer with allergies and I'm highly allergic to cats and have to say that I would be upset if someone brought a cat to my house especially on my birthday. When we go to my inlaws we always ask if we can bring a dog or dogs and would never just bring them without asking first and they always say yes and they have 2 small dogs that get along great with ours. When we have get togethers at our house, we invite their puppies. I do think your inlaws were a bit extreme but I once had one of my cousins and her husband and kids come and spend a week at my house and without asking (and we did not have a dog at that time) they brought their small dog who insisted on sneaking upstairs and pooping in my bedroom and we were not happy with that but never said anything either. I just think that some people are not as in love with our dogs as we are and really that is their loss but maybe it's just a good idea to leave pnut at home for now....
