I think every plant I know anything about is on the ASPCA's toxic list.
Faced with this same delema, I decided to replace my grass (where the dogs hang out by the back patio) with flagstone, and in all the flower beds, I put down river rock.....I bought some of those beautiful large pots that look like they are made out of stone, but they are so lite....I put seasonal silk plants in the pots, and put the pots in the flower beds of river rock. Solved a BUNCH of issues for me! Perpetual color! No watering issues! Dogs cant get up in the big pots, too tall! Dont have to spend time taking care of live plants! Makes weekly washing down my flagstone and the flower beds of river rock, with Virkon, a breeze (for sanitazation.) No mud puddles following rain, when and if we get any! Positives go on and on....
