No, it's just a nickname; there is no official classification for a teacup, and those breeders who use the word often as a marketing ploy. It’s okay for a pet owner to use the word, but there’s really no definition for it. The Yorkshire Terrier is considered a toy breed with the official standard "Not to exceed 7 pounds."
