While LPD is indeed an issue to be dealt with, it is not life threatening and it is correctable with surgery. Google it and you will find all that is known to date about the cause (which is unknown), the genetic components, and the successful treatments. You dont need "citations"...just google it. You will also be able to see where you can make dontations to facilitate research in the disease, unless you already have a favorite research center/university you contribute any much appreciated funds.
