Oh, Patti. My imaging place does this to me every other year for the past 10 or 12. I have cysts in my breasts apparently from time to time and they always want to be sure they are benign so every other year I get the call back with the wording about the irregular, dense area they want to double check and I go in for a diagnostic mammo and then sonogram. So far, all dense irregularities have been determined to be cysts and I've not had to have a biopsy. Seven or eight years back I got so tired of it I went to a breast surgeon who basically told me to get used to it and be grateful we had such a good screening system at Baylor Hospital and it was what they did - f/u anytime there were changes in the breast tissue and that it happens frequently in older women. She did not specify exactly what "older" was but I guessed whatever that means as to age, unless you're young, they find things worthy of f/u fairly frequently. So, my such last call was in January 2012, as was my last diagnostic mammo and sono - both determined to be negative for evidence of cancer. So just because they found something in your breasts on screening mammo, unless you are a pretty young woman, I think it is usually fairly routine. Maybe if you call back and tell them you are pretty worried, they can get you in sooner. Where I have mine done, they get you in within the week for f/u and then you see two radiologists while you are there and leave with your answer.
