Within the last 1.5 years I have lost 3 yorkies to unusual circumstances....Scarlett at 8 yrs of age on 2/2/10 to Thrombocytopenia, she came from an excellent show breeder in Oregon..she was never sick a day in her life....she died within 48 hrs of onset..then we lost Rhett 65 days after Scarlett, he did have a Collapsed Trachea, but that is not what he died from, he clearly died of a broken heart due to the loss of his sister....he was 7 yrs old.......then in August 2011 we lost Isabella to GME at the age of 17 months...she came from a very well known European breeder in Italy...tons of champions in her lines....and no known genetic problems....I am about to get my new Yorkie boy...............scared??? heck yes I am scared.....have I done research.....oh yea....but all the research in the world can't guarantee nothing will happen....
Nicole I wish you the best of luck in finding the perfect Yorkie for you.
That is so sad I just want to try and find a breeder with healthy and reputable practices, not necessarily a show breeder as I plan to have my puppy as a pet, not as a show dog. With that being said, I created this thread to try and figure out other opinions on a breeder that was not necessarily on the YTCA website but that seemed to be very well-educated on the breed. Now I am confused as to where to look
