I use to think the same way you do, but I've changed my mind. At one time, mixed breeds were a good idea, but now the only reason to be breeding is to improve the breed. Most of us here believe that most purebred dogs shouldn't be breed either; they have to be an excellent example of the breed in every way. So it's not like we are against mixed breeds, we are against frivolous breeding or breeding for pets only. If you take a look at the pounds and how many dogs are daily being put to death because there's no home for them, it's really heartbreaking. It's almost like people think we should breed anything and then put to death the ones no one wants. There's no shortage of dogs, so there's no reason for people to breed without a clear purpose.
Anyone is welcome at YorkieTalk, no matter what your dog's breed is or if it's mixed, we do hope to educate why it important to support great breeders for the next time you decide to buy a dog. Also, many of our members' dogs are rescues and that's why they don't always have the proper yorkie look. Furthermore, we never want to encourage pet owners to breed, it’s really much more complicated than you realize, once man domesticates an animal they have to be very involved in the breeding of the animal, and they can’t just hook up two dogs with good results. Good breeders study for years before they start breeding and have a mentor. Sorry for long post, I feel so strongly about all of these things.
