I live in a highly infested tick area. Ticks hang out in tall grass and wait for a warm body to go by and then jump on. Try to keep your dog away from areas where the grass has not been mowed. Get a flea comb and run it through his hair whenever he comes in from outside. Those ticks are hard to kill. You have to use tweezers or crush them with something hard.

I hate the thought of having to deal with them again this year. I would have no problem since Gracie does not walk in the tick areas but our cats bring them in and I have to run the flea comb through them whenever they come inside. The Frontline Plus for cats does not work on ticks so I have to be the tick catcher.
