A little history lesson. Until WWI pink was a boy's color, and blue was for girls. Red was for men so a lighter shade of red was thought to be the color for boys, and the Virgin Mary was associated with blue so that was the color for girls. WWI changed all that and the men’s uniforms were blue so blue became the color associated with boys. Are the people in your town really old???
