In order to correct a fault, we do not do this by breeding another fault to correct a fault. Remember, a big part of breeding is common sense!!
If the gold is too light, breeding to a "red legged" Yorkies will give you more pups with color faults, it will not give you a line of rich gold pups...breeding dogs is not merely a blending of genes. It is not like taking a blob of white painting and adding drops of color until you achieve the correct shade you want..that works for artists, not dog breeders.

If a color is too light or too dark, you correct it by breeding to a stud with a correct color. You do not take a pale silver bitch and breed to a male as black as coal..that will NOT give you blue...a light gold bred to red will not give you correct tri-colored gold..two faults or two wrongs do not produce a right..and folks is basis dog breeding 101.
If these things were not true, then order to correct an underbite we would breed to a dog with an overbite and expect pups with a correct bite..the only way to correct a bad bite or bad color is to breed to correct color or bite.
