Sugar will stop bleeding very quickly, too...that's what my mom used on all of us growing up...and me for mine. Works great for when kids fall and bust a lip, too, 'cuz it tastes good.
I am so sorry this happened to you...I worry about that myself. Hope your baby is okay very soon.
